Essentially, the duties and responsibilities of Assistant Security Managers are identical to those of the Security Managers with the exception of not making any appointments and not being allowed pull an attendee's badge unless give special permission/instruction by either a member of the Executive Staff or one of the Security Managers.

Since Anime Boston 2006 Assistant Security Managers have worn red T-shirts to make them stand out from the regular orange worn by all other Security Staff. Anime Boston presently maintains two Assistant Security Managers on its staff.

All staff are required to read the forums at least once a week, and it is best to read the staff forums for all convention departments to familiarize yourself with all areas of the convention.

All staff are required to help with the post-con pack-up after the convention ends on Sunday, unless pre-approved to leave early at the time of hire.
