Ideal candidates must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time, be flexible in regards to schedule and availability, be able to lift a minimum of 30 pounds, have a helpful attitude, and a clear speaking voice over a walkie talkie. Security staff report to the Security Managers.

Security staff are responsible for line control, checking badges/IDs to control access at convention events, walking patrol routes when necessary, assist in setting up and breaking down convention events, and responding to attendee concerns by reporting problems to the Security Managers and Executive Staff.

All staff are required to read the forums once a week, and it is best to read the staff forums for all convention departments to familiarize yourself with all areas of the convention.

All staff are required to help with the post-con pack-up after the convention ends on Sunday, unless pre-approved to leave early at the time of hire.
