Anime Boston is actively looking for an individual to act as Webmaster of the Anime Boston web sites. This person will be responsible for maintaining and updating content on the convention's web sites on a regular basis. The Webmaster will be responsible for creating, updating, and modifying HTML pages as well as using graphic design software to create images. The Webmaster is also responsible for proactively proofing, editing, and correcting content errors including copy and broken links. The Webmaster will work directly with our Public Relations division to ensure that the quality, functionality, and "look and feel" of the web sites are top-notch.
No training will be provided, however the webmaster from Anime Boston 2003-2006 will be available to bring you up to speed.
Responsibilities:
- Create, update, and maintain content on the Anime Boston 2008 web site.
- Keep the web sites compatible with the latest versions (and some older versions) of Internet Explorer, Mozilla/Netscape, Safari, and Opera on multiple platforms.
- Consult with Director of Public Relations as well as the Chairman and Vice Chairman to plan web site development.
- Work with Public Relations division to ensure that the web site presents Anime Boston positively.
- Enforce content formatting, image treatment, and design consistency among the divisions.
- Work with all divisions to publish information on a timely basis.
- Maintain e-mail addresses.
- Monitor site statistics.
- Monitor disk space, errors, hosting company notices, etc.
Qualifications:
- Good written and verbal communication skills (including the ability to translate information into user-friendly content) are necessary.
- Good knowledge of editing HTML without WYSIWYG software
- Photoshop and FTP experience required
- UNIX, SSI, Perl, JavaScript, and mySQL recommended
- PHP knowledge a plus
- Will need to be available to update site content on a regular basis (and on a daily basis as the convention draws closer)
- Must reply to e-mail in a timely manner
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science (or related field) or related work experience a strong plus
