Metroid or: How I Learned that Surprises Come from Unexpected Places
Hosted by Oliver Surpless
An in-depth discussion of this seminal video game series that has been with us consistently since the days of the NES, this panel is hosted by a video game lover who is far too analytical for his own good. The topic is a little series that pretty much invented non-linear gaming as well as speed running. Can you guess the joke in the title? Come on by and let’s discuss the series’ history, its contributions to gender relations in video games (or not…) and how the 3rd game more than lived up to the “super” moniker of the SNES. Fans of Metroid minutiae preferred, but video game fans are invited as well, and only if you explain just how that darn morph ball could possibly work in physics or just who the heck Justin Bailey is.
