To put it simply, Hyakunin Kuizu is what we call our anime version of Family Feud. It's an entertaining and engaging game show event that we host at anime conventions around the country. Hyakunin Kuizu means "Hundred Person Quiz" and is derived from the Japanese name for Famuly Feud, Kuizu Hyakunin (100nin) Kikimashita (Asked 100 People Quiz). That name was way too long and people couldn't remember it, so we shortened it for our version. If you've seen Family Feud then it's essentially the same thing, but focused on anime, manga, video games, and other things that anime fans enjoy. We survey 100 people online ahead of time and ask them to answer some questions. Then we sort out the answers, throw out questions that didn't survey well, and get ready for the convention. At the convention, we have two teams of five people going against each other at one time. The teams need to guess the top survey responses. With each survey answer that they guess, they earn a point for each survey percentage percentage. Whichever team has more points in the end wins. Hyakunin Kuizu is hosted by Jekka Cormier, co-host of The Chibi Project and creator of the web comic Seraphic. ANIME FANS: We need help from a lot of Anime Boston attendees! We've posted a survey online and need your survey answers! Take the survey and help us out. It only takess a few minutes. We need 100 people to answer each of those questions! (There are actually more questions than you see, but they are randomly selected with a secret technical process so that nobody ever sees them all.) Once questions have enough valid answers, they will no longer appear on the survey. (If you don't have an answer, just leave it blank.) COMPETITORS: We're also looking for teams to sign up and play. If you and four friends want to play, complete the application form.
The application deadline is Friday, March 7th. This is NOT first-come, first-served. After the deadline, we will review the applications and select four teams and several alternates as backups. All applicants will be e-mailed sometime that weekend and be told if they're in or not. (If you ask if you're in before the e-mails are sent, then you'll get yourself disqualified for not reading instructions.).
