Announcing Voice actors Toshio Furukawa and Shino Kakinuma and Producer Masao Maruyama

We are excited to welcome Japanese Guests of Honor Toshio Furukawa, Shino Kakinuma, Masao Maruyama to Anime Boston!

Toshio Furukawa

Furukawa is a veteran voice actor whose voice appears in many anime, movies, and narrations.

He is well-known for acting as Kai Shiden in Mobile Suit Gundam, Shin in Fist of the North Star, Asuma Shinohara in Mobile Police Patlabor, Piccolo in Dragon Ball Z, Ataru Moroboshi in Urusei Yatsura, and Portgas D. Ace in One Piece.  His most recent work is the voice of Enedora in World Trigger.

He has done many voice overs for foreign movies such as covering for Erik Estrada as Ponch in the series CHiPs; Billy Crystal in City Slickers, Analyze This, and Forget Paris; Kevin Kline in Dave and The Ice Storm; Dean Butler in Little House on the Prairie and more. He also teaches voice acting at Osaka University Arts Junior College. His hobbies are fishing, creating dioramas, and figure collecting.


Shino Kakinuma

Anime Boston is pleased to welcome veteran seiyuu Shino Kakinuma.  Kakinuma is probably best known to western audiences as the voice of Sailor Moon’s best friend Naru Osaka in the original Sailor Moon.  


She made her debut in the Rumiko Takahashi series Urusei Yatsura voicing many different characters.  From there, she's been acting steadily in a wide variety of roles including those in End of the World, Kemonozume, Mushishi: The Next Chapter, and most recently in Dragonball Z Kai as both Videl and Pan.  In addition to her anime credits, Kakinuma-san also lends her voice to the video game Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z as Momiji.  


She is married to fellow seiyuu, Toshio Furukawa and works for Aoni Production.  In her spare time, she enjoys fishing, driving, and travelling the world.  She looks forward to meeting her fans at Anime Boston!


Masao Maruyama

In 1972, Masao Maruyama founded the animation studio Mad House with Akio Sugino, Masami Hata and others. He has been involved in many phases of anime production including: planning, music, casting, and more. He is the producer of Yawara!, Card Captor Sakura, Claymore, and Death Note, and the creative producer of Hunter x Hunter and Chihayafuru, to name a few of the many Mad House titles he has had a hand in. In 2011, Maruyama founded a new company MAPPA (Maruyama Animation Produce Project Association.) With MAPPA, he has continued producing works such as: Kids on the Slope, Terror in Resonance, and Garo: The Animation, among others.
